Binding edge

Book size is always given as width x height measured at the binding edge — the side that gets glued, stitched, or punched. Left-edge binding is standard for left-to-right reading languages.

Size limits by binding

• Saddle stitch & wire: 4"–11.8" wide, 4"–14.3" tall.
• Perfect binding: 4"–11.8" wide, 4"–14.3" tall.
• Hardcover: 5.4"–11.8" wide, 5.4"–14.3" tall.

Page count increments

• Saddle stitch & hardcover: multiples of 4.
• Perfect binding & wire binding: multiples of 2.

Margins

Keep body text and logos at least 0.25" inside the trim line so nothing reads as cropped after cutting. Elements meant to run to the edge of the page still need to extend into the bleed area, not stop at the trim line.
